My Nashua MTN contract has expired and I have given them about 5 months notice. They said in an email that I will be able to port my number from the 24th of this month. I got that in writing!

Now, if I want to port the number to a pre-paid service, what do I have to do? Literally?

TIA

At the moment its not possible to port from contract to prepaid with the same company so you would need to approach either competitor and express the desire to port to their company on a prepaid basis.

Have a look @ Cell-C Value Chat - I am moving to them, port request has been approved.

Thanks.

So it's just a case of going to the new service provider and asking them to take over your old number? Any documentation needed?

Can anyone confirm if this is now possible on MTN?

You can ask the sp to convert the number to prepaid.

You can convert your number from contract to pre-paid with same provider. But usually takes 3 months to covert that same number to contract again with same SP. If your contract ends, tell them you want to convert the number to pre-paid and see what's the reply.

Thanks for the replies. My friend was told by MTN Tygervalley that she had to come in on January 13, the day her contract expired, not before and not after, and they would be able to migrate her to MTN prepaid.
She went in on that day and they told her she would receive an SMS in a couple of days confirming the migration.
It was almost a week later, but she did get the SMS and has successfully moved from and MTN contract to MTN prepaid.
