We are currently on the Wireless 15 package and using the 2Mb modem.
I see there is the Uncapped+ for R879-00, Max 25 for R445-00 and Pro10 for R198-00.

Can we migrate to one of these packages and pay less per month?

are you on contract or month to month?
if on contract you can migrate to a higher package (higher cost) or one at the same monthly cost at no charge, if you go to a cheaper one i think there is a penalty to pay not sure what the penalty is

On month to month same as above but if downgrade then the penalty is R99. only.

Wireless 15 is a contract.

We have been with iBurst for a long time, and to pay what we do when there are newer packages with more data (Max25 for example) for less than half of what we are paying now and still have to pay a penalty is a bit no-no in my books.

In my mind, iBurst should have automatically taken all the Wireless15 subscribers and migrated them to Max25 and then also automatically charge them less with no penalties involved.

Hi Burstydude,
Let me first answer your queries and then elaborate more, hopefully helping you with your decision making.
1. I'm not sure if you have a contract (pay installments on you modem) or you are month2month subscriber.
The migration rule accross all prouducts:
a. Upward migration (moving to higher subscription) - No penalty
b. Downward migration while you are under contract - Penalty equals to 3 times the difference between the 2 subscriptions.
c. Downward migration on month2month - R99. (Which equals to activation fee)

iBurst can't force migration on existing subscribers. We've done it in the last campaign Dec/09 and our customers were very upset with the move.

Now what should you do?
If you are on W15, here are your options:
1. Stay on W15 - subscription R955, anytime allocation -30GB (including mid month topup), midnight 2 morning allocation 150GB(effectively uncapped at night on full speed).
2. Migrate to new package M75 (available only to W15 subscribers) - subscription R955 (no migration penalty, nor R99), anytime allocation
75GB, midnight2morning allocation 75GB.
3.Move to uncapped - 2 flavours
3.1 iBurst Uncapped - daily allocation of 1GB thereafter throttle on 256kbps for the remaining of the day. - subscription R599
3.2. iBurst Uncapped+ - daily allocation of 3GB thereafter throttle on 384kbps for the remaining of the day - R879
4. Downward migration to a lower package - please check the details in iBurst website for quota allocation. Penalty as explained above.

Thanks for that info Remot.

We are on the Wireless 15 contract and paying installments on the 2Mb modem, yes.

Want to migrate to the Max25.
No penalty fees then and pay less than half of what we pay now, seeing as it is a higher package.

Currently paying R1204-00 per month, so going to the Max25 will be R445 + modem cost. Much better deal.

Not correct.
Migration from W15 to Max25+ regarded as DOWNWARD MIGRATION.
W15 sub = R955
Max25 sub = R445
Once-off penalty = 3 x ( 955 - 445 ) = R1530.

Sorry pal.

OK, so going from a 15GB package to a higher data bundle 25GB package is considered a downward migration?
Laughable to say the least. I fail to see how a package with MORE data per month compared to our current one is a downgrade.

So, we must pay R1200-00+ per month for 15GB (30GB with the top up), while new users can choose a 25GB (50GB with top up) package and pay half of what we pay now? Something is seriously wrong with that, in my opinion.

Not interested in uncapped at all either as we do not download that much and I want full speed during the day as well.
And the M75 package is also not needed.

From my post on iBurst's FB page:

Wireless 15 package and using the 2Mb modem, can we migrate to Max 25 without issues?

iBurst Hi Ryan, for sure! It's only when you migrate downwards that you have to pay a small penalty fee.

So, according to this, it is an UPWARD migration, not a downward migration.

It's considered a downgrade based on price, not on data. That's why you never go on contract, cause you never know how the market will change.

There's guys on Vodacom still paying ridiculous prices for 1GB cause they are on a 24 month contract, whereas guys on the 2GB + 2GB contract are benefiting.

WHen I login to the iBurst website and try to change package (I want to change from Wireless 5 to Max25), I dont get an indication of costs. Can someone fix this?

Hi Remote
Im with @lantic and just started the Wireless8 pakage last month on contract anyway ive seen the new pakages and was wondering if i went to Uncapped or 25+ would this bennifit me. Another question the pakage im now on W8, what are the changes, as ive seen a big difference in my bytes allocated on the iburst usage page.
Im just wondering if i should stay as i am or migrate/upgrage.
Thx

Spizone, refer to my post #5 above. Same principals apply.

I say it again (quoting from my one previous post): So, we must pay R1200-00+ per month for 15GB (30GB with the top up), while new users can choose a 25GB (50GB with top up) package and pay half of what we pay now? Something is seriously wrong with that, in my opinion.

This is something that needs to be adressed urgently.

You took out a contract. At least iBurst have given you the option to downgrade.

We do not want to downgrade........
We want to go to a higher data package.

My whole point is that new users can get a higher data package (Max25) for less than half of what we are paying now for a 15BG package.

I'm not sure you read my previous post #5
"2. Migrate to new package M75 (available only to W15 subscribers) - subscription R955 (neither migration penalty, nor R99), anytime allocation 75GB, midnight2morning allocation 75GB."
Here you go to a higher package with no extra cost.

Not really. The objective from iBurst is clearly to ensure you keep paying the same amount of money this month that you were paying last month. If you're going to a cheaper package, they will penalise you for it to protect their revenue. Simple. Data doesn't even enter the equation so arguing this point is moot.

Cant you see that they are clearly trying to get you to move to the Max75 package, which gives you more data (much more) for the same price? If you dont like this then suck it up and pay a penalty. The stance on this wont change. Alternatively stay with what you have now....no one is forcing you to change.
