They getting a whole lot of money from this. It will be a warm-up for Joshua but won't be surprised if he lets it run the distance to give JP's fans their money worth.
 
Jake Paul was a joke in this he was falling all over the place. I'm guessing this was all about the money

That is just what happens when a professional fights an amateur. Assume there must have been something about not ending it in the first round but with Paul spending half the time in his knees guess it's difficult to fight. Clearly marketing and money for Josua calling out Fury next year.
 
Jake Paul looked like a lazy amateur, nevermind the other guy towered over him and looked in tiptop condition.
His jaw was broken in two places, what a tool.

'This was a circus'​


In the end, it was hard to know what made for more painful viewing: Jake Paul doddering around the ring with wobbly legs and a shattered jaw, spitting blood and supported by the ropes. Or Anthony Joshua dancing around in celebration and talking up a ‘systematic breakdown.’

By that point, around midnight in Miami, only a few crumbs of comfort remained: Paul had avoided serious injury. Joshua had - eventually - delivered the knockout he needed to remain on course for a showdown with Tyson Fury. But most of all? This was over.

Perhaps referee Chris Young put it best when he warned both fighters midway through the circus: ‘The fans did not pay to see this c***!’ Maybe he was right. Maybe they expected more than five-and-a-half rounds of Paul dancing and diving around the ring while Joshua had a fight with thin air.

All I am going to say is that AJ could have ended it much earlier.
 
Agreed there must have been something in the contract or a bonus if AJ took it past 4 rounds. Does look in good shape hope he gets his career back on track.
 
Not sure why Jake even took the match unless he is planning on retiring soon. He loses his appeal now and if he boxes, will not be able to attract paydays as big as this again. He may be able to have that big payday against KSI still.

He has one big match left in him against Fury and that will be it.

I hope to see Terrence Crawford come back and he may for the right price.

AJ was very calm in the press conferences; he knew it would be a warm-up. I rate his team are using it to build hype around the bout against Tyson Fury.

Yeah, but they are also giving it their promotion's worth. The pundits didn't like it, and it doesn't seem that the crowd liked it either.

AJ did what he needed to do and make Jake look bad for the sake of professional boxing. If this one went the distance, people would have started undermining pro boxing even more which happened after he went the distance against Tommy Fury and beat Mark Tyson.

The Mike Tyson bout should never have happened. Fury would have won more decisively had he been allowed the time to prep and have been in better health.
