I am trying to connect a routerboard 750 and netgear 834. Anyone ever got a VPN tunnel up by any chance?

Not between those two, but the technology should work across all vendors as long as the settings match.
Try avoid certificates in the beginning , and use des as a default on both sides for encryption.

Do you have static public ip addresses on both sides? Not sure if those devices have a firewall service on it, but maybe check that as well. What do the logs on each device SAy when you try bring the tunnel up?

Thanks syntax, i agree that IPSEC should be translatable no matter which device, having no joy at the moment. Mikrotik has very little or almost nothing regarding the tunnel, Netgear just says nothing. Both firewalls are turned off, using standard encryption with plain 3des and sha1, nothing fancy and still nothing.

I have read many things about other specific devices, that is why I asked because it was so specific on brand and model.

Try to enable VPN Debugging on the Mikrotik-Log Service and perform some testing with it logging.

Please post the results here as that might speed up the process.
