So you buy a brand new car with a motorplan that lasts 100 000km.
Your speedo over reads by 5 to 10% which seems normal for most cars these days, you reach your 100 000km mark and are now out of plan, but have you really done 100 000km or only 90 to 95 000?

That depends. How long does it take you to do 100 kilometers if you travel at 100 kilometers per hour?

Odometers tend to underread, while speedos overread.

You have to divide it in half and it depends on how fast the wheels turn!

speedo do over read..
ODOmeter doesn't

Correct.
The manufacturers make the odometer as accurate as possible.
The speedometer is calibrated to over read to avoid lawsuits.

Larger tires than stock would cause the odometer to underread. Smaller tires cause an overread.
Overinflated tires vs slightly flat tires also have a similar but smaller effect.
