Mileage on an Automatic Car - Please help!

German cars don't break if well taken care off

Maybe, but Japanese cars don't break even if they aren't well cared for. My friend has the Jazz and for years he replaced only 4 spark plugs not knowing his Jazz had eight, no sweat, the Jazz took things in it's stride with no issues until the oversight was pointed out to him.

I drive a German car myself and even if it has not driven me a serious issues i'll be honest and say i'd rather have the honest Japanese engineering to deal with, especially since I service my own cars. I agree that it might be perceptions and generalizing but fact is Germans just don't own the reliability honour when it comes to cars. Thrills, performance, vrrr phaa, side of the road, steam from the bonnet, those are what Germans are known for, exceptions of course can never be ignored. Mercedes cars have proven to be very reliable.

I've been looking at a Honda Jazz with 130 000km on the clock...

What year and model. If a 1.5VTec circa 2005 to 2009 somewhere, then it most probably a CVT. If the 1.4, then automatic. Seriously, the CVT problems were few and far between.

The nice thing about automatics are that the gearbox protects the engine from idiot drivers, especially when matched to a diesel.

My advice, go for the Honda. They are super reliable and good value for money. Services were also not expensive. My wife had a 2007 1.5 VTec, and it gave us absolutely no problems. As for mileage in your price range, 130k km is nothing. On a Japanese car that is called "run in".

Give some more info regarding this specific vehicle? Maybe that can help us make a more informed observation.
