Good evening,

After doing some research i found myself more confused about cryptocurrency mining.

I am in the process of building myself a mining rig with 6 GPU's.I was going for the Sapphire Radeon RX 580 Nitro+ 8GB till i looked around and it looks like the GTX 1070 is a better option.

Yes the 1070's are more expensive but running 8 1070's if more profitable will make up the price difference in the months to come.

What i also noticed, was that some sites say the founder edition others just say the 1070.

Anyone here with experience in mining with both or enough knowledge to assist me in making my decision?

What i would like to know is what kind of returns i can look at on both these cards mining different currencies?

I will be pool mining on Nicehash if their press release tonight seems legit otherwise etherium mining.

Foot-note: Both cards will be tuned for mining not mined standard and i plan on expanding to many more rigs but would prefer getting the first one right instead of kicking myself later.

Thanks in advance miners!

It's a bit late

It's a bit late as there are many miners out there. It will take quite some time before you score a coin and your electricity bill may offset that. Miners eat through electricity.

Useful site. Just add your hardware and hit calculate. It will show you the most profitable coin to mine as well as your daily earnings.

Nicehash will give you about $3 per 1070 per day, that was before the hack.

For 6 x 1070's, you can earn about R7000 per month. Not bad in my opinion.

Yes, but evetech has stock for 12k each lol

Waiting for mine to arrived, evetech is quite slow atm.

What software would you use to mine with the Vega cards. If they making $15 a car per day - at that rate in 2.5 months you would have paid the 3 off already but the question then is, will it stay around that price per day or is it likely to drop?

More specifically what Vega cards are you referring too?

Vega is almost like antminer, it does only thing really good which is cryptoknight, other coins it is not great at all.

Will probably drop to 10 dollars or so, but rate is really good because nicehash is gone. Everyone purchased hashing power with nicehash, so difficultly is low now.

https://www.amdxmrminer.com/info/rx-vega-64/ is the miner you need to use.

Thanks for the feedback gents. Just want to make sure im getting this right though...

$15 per card per day = +- $45 dollars a day with 3 cards?

That would be $1350 a month +- on three cards?

$1350 being R18 500 +- a month on three cards before running costs?

What exactly would I need to order to get this up and running?

Even at $10 per day in 3 months cards are paid off then it’s just electricity costs and then profit. Does it work similar as nicehash where you add your wallet address (Luno) and it transfers the BTC there daily? Or am I very wrong?

Nicehash is gone :P

It is not straight forward to get this, first you need apply the card tweaks to get the 1900hs odd then you need setup ETN mining to cryptopia exchange. Sell etn for btc on exchange.

Send btc from cryptopia to luno to get zar, fees are quite high 0.002 btc

Yes sounds good, keep in mind profits might drop or go up.

There is multiple cryptoknight coins to mine, around 5 or so.

Wow sounds a little complicated

Yeah I know nicehash is gone - was using it as an example.

The fees are high so mite be best to send a lump sum at a time instead of every day etc.

If I can get the software setup (will look for guides or something) any chance you can tell me what hardware I will need?

Yeah hardware is easy :)

Biostar tb250
celeron cpu
4gb ram
risers
mining frame
SSD
evga 750watt psu for 3 cards

Perfect thanks for this.

With the GPU’s does it make sense to pay the R999 extra to get the liquid cooled Vega 64 for heat issues or wont it make too much of a difference? Want the cards to run as cool as possible. But not sure if the price difference will make that much of a difference.

Test it out. Buy 1 of each, however I'd be concerned about the lifetime on the watercooling compared to fans.

Also temps are not the end all of things so long as you keep it under 80. The moving parts is what you want to keep down to a minimum. Buying a replacement fan set is not cheap.

Just a thought...but that returns seem extremely excessive and even if it does give those returns then everyone will jump on it and the earnings potential should plummet no?
