Ministers and Gautrain

My problem is that they probably won't be charged, then the opposition, probably the FF+ will ask the public protector to investigate - and he as always will come to the conclusion that there is nothing wrong with their involvement - A court with some vestiges of independence must test this. I would say they can be suspended until the outcome - but in terms of our law they are suspended on full pay - so it's a paid vacation - so rather let them work

Yes, yes. But these are our elected (and in the case of Selebi, non-elected) leaders - they should be held top higher standards. I'm not saying that anyone should be fired at the slightest rumour of anything fishy, but I do believe that allegations against ministers should be investigated thoroughly and action taken if it is found that there is something that does not comform to the highest ethical standards.

... as long as the allegations are thoroughly and independently tested, which does not seem to happen in very many cases.

Only problem is while they're at work they'll have plenty of time to shred some documents etc.
 
why is anyone shocked at all. this is almost to be expected.

i refuse to place trust in any politician in south africa....regardless of political party.

i wouldn't pin my hoped on trevor either.

those who actively seek to be in power are the last people who should be allowed to be in power
