Miracle at Eskom

Ja ja, I'm sure you'll get your phone call from overseas to turn it off again, comrades.

China probably already pissed we not buying solar fast enough.

Ok, it's easy to blame elections and what what with Chinese comrades whatever, but the raw data is there - Eskom's EAF is way much better than it was. That's just a fact.

Well Andre did ask for exemption from procurement rules that prevented Eskom from engaging directly with OEMs. Of course it was only granted after he left.

The ANC creating legislation to force in intermediaries under the guise of BEE is really killing a lot of business. It is sad that BEE is about patronage and not empowerment.

Imagine the NHI when central procurement are forced to only buy via BEE vendors instead of directly? It is technically not corruption, but the law and used by the connected. That is what NHI is about for many...

I'm sure our friends will make a plan to change your tune, don't stress. This stuff is way beyond our control anyway.

Well, if SA votes for that, what can you do. That's democracy.

This country is barely held together by duct tape. It's at a point where if something goes too bad and too many tax payers leave it will just totally collapse overnight, I wonder if that's the goal, to flush out the "West".

This place literally cannot survive ANC and their types of leaders, it's simply not sustainable.

Lying about it helps nobody. Suggest OP resign if they force him to publish propaganda again, anyone remotely concerned about SA would do that.

Came here to point this out. ADR wanted OEMs involved but faced resistance to bringing them in. It's only once the ANC was about to be pushed out of power that they switched gears.

Nyati said the load-shedding reprieve was a result of Eskom’s improved performance, which was due to a plan approved and implemented in March 2023.

The plan focused on accelerating and executing planned maintenance in partnership with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).

The OEMs had expertise in the equipment used at Eskom’s power plants, which helped ensure better performance following maintenance.

“What is important is that our people at Eskom have done what many people thought they could not do,” Nyati said.

What a joke!

The plan focused on accelerating and executing planned maintenance in partnership with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).

The OEMs had expertise in the equipment used at Eskom’s power plants, which helped ensure better performance following maintenance.

IE. Eskom couldn't do what needed to be done. The OEMs had to be brought in.

Electricity demand has declined significantly in 2024 because of increased solar PV installations at households and businesses.

The lower electricity demand has helped Eskom to limit or reduce load-shedding in recent weeks.

ADR and Oberholzer had been begging for 5000-6000MW of capacity to allow them to take down units for long-term/deep maintenance from their first year at the helm. This only came online due to PRIVATE INDIVIDUALS and PRIVATE COMPANIES after ADR resigned in 2023 because the ANC GOVT WOULDN'T HELP and we had such ridiculously high levels of load shedding. Can someone question the new CEO on that?

MyBB really are scraping the very bottom of the infected barrel by spreading this propaganda

Supply and demand. I know of so many middle-class families who are now rationing themselves, as they cannot afford the higher prices and load-shed themselves daily. This is another reason for demand falling.

Eskom generation is getting closer and closer to the predicted situation of only having customers who cannot afford their electricity.
