mIRC on my PC via mobile conn

To what network? What error does it give? Is your internet working fine generally?

ummm... u sure you haven't played with the settings?
What servers are you connecting to? IRC works fine for me on the zanet.org servers

More specific please. Does your browsing work etc...and as stated above, what errors do you get and to which server are you trying to connect? You might want to try some other irc clients. XChat...etc.

mIRC via mobile conn on PC

Here is the original thread:

Hi,

Dont know if this is the forum to post my question but i need some help setting yp mIRC. I am connecting to the internet and posting to this forum via my VM card in my phone which is connected via USB to my PC. Well browsing works on my PC and even MSN Messenger - using my mobile VM connection.

However my mIRC does not want to sign into IRC servers. I click connect to server but it never does. I even tryed using "caladan.shadowfire.org" on ports 21, 25, 443, 110 which should work if my firewall is blocking it etc. But nothing works.
It jst time out. I temporarily even shut down my firewall and tryed but still not connecting...

I tryed jmIRC on my fone but still can't connect.

please help

ok just got IRC to work with xChat and Trillian...
using caladan.shadowfire.org on one of these ports: 21, 25, 53, 110, 443

FYI i am doing this behind a firewall...

2nght I will try again at home....

And see if it is a VM problem, hopefully not.

Sometimes mIRC uses a damn firewall/proxy setting. Disable this by typing this in the console:

/firewall off

then do:

/server irc.freenode.net

etc. Generally you don't need to supply a port as the default is 6667. However if you have some proxy/firewall linked with mIRC it can be set to try to use ports 7200 and 7300.

So "/firewall off" would disable any firewall settings/options in mIRC?

Still strange...anyway will try at home again....
Thanks for all the help so far.

Regards
B

does irc.ac.za have any other ports besides 6667 that i can use behind a firewall
