I've now downloaded the new ubuntu 3 times. Wasting bandwitdh as I go, just because mirror.ac.za does not support resume.

if there's a break in my internet, it immediately tries to resume, and on resume, mirror.ac.za reports success and that there's nothing to resume.... fun times.... I can now see why you junkies spend multiple gigs download **** like this

It resumed for me: See the other thread, where the server had to reboot and my download crashed. Then I just resumed, and MD5 checked out at the end. What are you using to download? wget FTW

I'm on a slow connection and resumed a few times, in the end the md5 was correct, maybe your download manager can't handle big files?

The mirror was down for a few minutes last night due to a reboot but I've just resumed my download without a problem

Are you using FTP or HTTP? It could be that your ISPs transparent cache is mangling the traffic.

And besides... cut them a little slack. The mirror is uploading a *FULL* ISO every 4s and a couple of (major) ISPs are struggling badly under the load. The mirror is actually doing pretty well considering the amount of traffic its pushing out.

I've used normally HTTP download (via Firefox) and Filezilla (FTP with resume) both report the file 100% done and the server actively skips the resume command from what I can tell in Filezilla.

Now downloading it a 3rd time. Here's hoping my internet won't break

If you're on windows try "free download manager" or orbit, on linux I used Gwget.

I've never had a problem with mirror.ac.za. I can't thank tenet enough for providing it.

Its probably easier to drive to a University, walk into the computer department and tell one of the dorks to put Ubuntu 9.10 on a flash disk!

Winston FTW!

I torrented it, and am seeding till my ratio hits 1.0. Had no issues, and ISO passed the MD5 test.

So when you buy Windows you pay M$. When you get "free" Ubuntu you pay your ISP (or Telskum)? You gotta love South Africa, where even free software costs an arm and a leg. :p
