We peaked at 393mbit/second, and as of the time of writing this email our 24 hour average was 237mbit/second. This average rises to 264mbit if we take it from the time of release yesterday. In the last 24 hours mirror.ac.za has pushed 2.55 terabytes of information.

The web servers peaked at around 120 hits a second, and our maximum established connections across all servers was approximately 13 thousand.

We peaked on national traffic at a little over 200mbit combined, though it only averaged about 150mbit/second for most of the high traffic period.

Currently the servers are pushing 242mbit/second, with the international segment of that being approximately 130mbit/second.

Peaking at 393mbit/second.
2.55 Terabytes in a 24 hour period.
13 thousand concurrent connections.

100% Keanu Reeves-Approved "Woah".

I, for one, would like to thank all the staff at Tenet/mirror.ac.za for their hard work in ensuring that a local mirror of the Ubuntu 8.04 release was available so quickly and for managing to keep the servers alive throughout yesterday's ravaging of their mirror.

Good job guys, I and my shiny new desktop OS appreciate it :D

I'll fourth that, but I have one complaint...

What gives?

Last night I started to download Ubuntu 8.04 dvd release for i386.

I was waiting for it to say on mirror.ac.za that syncing the Ubuntu mirros was complete.
As soon as it was, at about 6pm I began downloading and got to about 28% before I had to shut down and go to bed.

Today the file no longer exists on the server, http://mirror.ac.za/ says, Last synched:
Fri 25 Apr 2008 16:53 GMT+2, but today the directory, http://ubuntu.mirror.ac.za/ubuntu-cdimage/releases/8.04/, has reverted back to only containing alpha 4?

This sucks, I want it to start working again so that I can download it on my free local before the end of the month, on 384kbps it takes long.

leg.uct.ac.za hasn't got it yet, haven't found anywhere else that does (local). If anyone has a source please, let me know.

Thanks.

EDIT:

Sync in progress, started:
Fri 25 Apr 2008 18:00 GMT+2

So hopefully now it will be kosher!

EDIT:

Last synched:

And it's not kosher, still alpha 4.
