Well, I've had a few slaps here and there. Never hurt me, except for my ego. I mean, there is a difference isn't there? A guy hits a girl and the girl goes to hospital (unless he's a real pansy) a girl hits a guy and, well usually the guy scratches his head wondering if he got hit or not because he really felt nothing (unless the chick is a female rugby player of course).
Not saying that physical abuse is not wrong, I've heard of a guy being beaten up by his wife with a cricket bat when ever she was angry (WTF), just saying we can be a little objective when it comes to this kind of thing. Anyway, never felt the need to hit a girl, only boozers and losers do that.
For the most part this is true. I have laughed it off when women have hit me. But remember domestic abuse femnists insist can also be "emotional" abuse. And we've all seen the adverts. It's late at night. Man comes home drunk, women hears the door open, her eyes get wide and she gets into the fetal position. For no reason he pulls off a belt and beat the life out of her.
But this just isn't the real world. That's some really hyperbolic version of what commonly happens. Rather imagine this as it's as common a scenario.
Man and women are having a torrid relationship. They're drunk and emotional. One too many times, just once too many she slaps him. Before he knows it he's lashed out. Just one crisp slap to say to her, "enough is enough, stop abusing me". He suddenly realises what he has done ! He runs to comfort her. She holds him at arms length and he sees her lip is beeding as it curls into a sinister smirk. Cold, Calculated she broken him and he's fallen into her trap. She looks at him with mock pity as she announces "You're screwed now buddy."
Days later the man is shunned from his friends, losses all respect at work as word gets out of this mosty horrible of creatures ...a woman beater ! What scum ! Friendless he becomes more and more reliable on the woman in his life who has him right where she wants him. Vulnerable, manipulated and abused.
You see ? I'm not defending this man. But like the women his crime was poor impulse control. To berate men for occasionally, even when tormented for poor impulse control
is blatant misandry.
Even if a woman can't hurt a man she should show control and enough respect to not hit him. No matter how much better she thinks it will make her feel. Equality right ?
And same goes for men hitting other men. Or women hitting other women. There are men that also couldn't hurt another man if they hit him, and men who could seriously hurt another man if they did. Where do you draw the line ? Do we laugh it off when a small guy hits a big guy and say to the big guy "don't hit back" ? What about a small guy calls the bigger guys wife a soandso ? Is it ok to hit then ?
Is it ok for a big woman to hit a little women who hit her called her a Whore ? A big woman hitting a little man ? A little man hitting a big woman ?
Why all the double standards ? Wouldn't it be better if we took gender right out of the equation and said "Look, no hitting, same goes for everyone. It will be all treated the same."
Because if we don't we make it possible for women to abuse the system. And rest assured some women do.
