So my folks bought a new hyundai i10 at end Oct 2022 but they were overseas for a but and forgot to do the free service after 1 year it comes with. Now hyundai says they must pay R2600 for the service ( they haven't booked in as yet) any advice?

First find out about the warranty. If it's still in place, then rather pay the R2600.Is it worth taking it to a dealership and pay R2600 for a filter and oil change? Take it to an independant and pay R1000 for the small service.

He can now take it to any RMI registered place without affecting the warranty.First find out about the warranty. If it's still in place, then rather pay the R2600.
I think its one month and 1000KM's grace.They normally allow 3 months or 2000kms grace depending but you are over either way.
If the service plan is void, see if you can't get it reversed. Pointless paying for something you can never use and as its the first service, they have incurred no cost.
