Are there anybody from Mitchell's Plain in Cape Town on here, that has an ADSL setup.

I only ask this, as I'm from the area, and would like to know how the performance is as my installation is coming up on Monday.

So would just like some feedback :)

I used stay there ,had a 4 mb line ,which I had to downgrade to 2mb .

It was too far from the exchange (lentegeur),and although I was quite close to the one in Portland (where I stayed) that cable didn't run over wespoort Ave.

That's very interesting. So if there is an exchange in Portlands(where I am also), then is there something else which is preventing from only being capable of a 2MB line?

I'm only getting a 2mb line installed, installation being done tomorrow. I only took that, as their website indicated that's all I could get. I'm right around the corner from that Portlands one, as I'm in Riversdale Way

You should be able to go 4mb,best is to speak to technician when he comes tomorrow and take it from there.

Cheers, Ponder much appreciated. As I've only applied for a 2mb line, I assume it wouldn't be great or it might be good and capable of more than 2mb by checking the stats?

The line stats will indicate what sync speeds you can expect.

Can you indicate how I check this, as I've never done this before? How do I log into the router, as I'm assuming I'm going to have to log in for other things as well.

Your router will have an ip address, just point your web browser to that ip, enter username&password.

To get to the IP Address:
On a windows machine, open cmd. This can be achieved by pressing the windows + R key. A box will appear. In that box type: cmd
click okay. You will now see a black terminal looking thing. In this terminal type: ipconfg
hit enter. Scroll up and look for default gateway. The IP will be 4 numbers separated by dots, e.g. 192.168.1.1. type that number into your web browser.
