Cape Town – Police officers in the Mitchell’s Plain cluster, in Cape Town, arrested 484 suspects in various anti-crime operations this week, Western Cape police said on Sunday.
Altogether 223 people were arrested for possession of drugs – 64 were wanted suspects – and 21 for crimes against women and children, SA Police Service spokesman Captain FC van Wyk said in a statement.
Other suspects were arrested for, among other things, housebreaking and theft, assault, possession of presumed stolen property, and traffic violations. All the arrests were made during visible patrols, tracing operations, and vehicle check points.
