Mk6 Jetta 1.6 (petrol)

Hi all. I am considering buying a 2018 mk6 jetta 1.6 (petrol). I cant find much about this car online, just a few bits of info here and there.

If anyone can provide further info from experience with this specific engine (code: CLR) it would be greatly appreciated.

Its a bit of a bland vehicle but i like that it comes with 6 airbags, massive boot and decent oem head unit.

How is the fuel consumption on these motors? I dont libe far from work (10km) but this means some of my cars tend to be quite thirsty.

Are these FSi engines? If yes, I would assume they can suffer from carbon build up?

How is the real world fuel consumption?

Any other common faults to be aware of?

Don't think we got 1.6 N/A here, last time the 1.6 was fitted was in polo 6 and golf 6. ( polo vivo also, but we talk about those lol)

Last ones sold here was with 1.6TDI, and TSI engines.

TSI can suffer from oil consumptions issues, and some 1.2 TSI had chain issue on early models.
 
Yep, it is a 1.6 "conceptline" that i am referring to. The polo 1.6 used the CLS engine that is very reliable, but the jetta and golf has the CLR engine which I think is 1.6FSI. If I am correct then they may be quite a bit more problematic and also very heavy on fuel. Cant seem to find much info online though.

The FSI had slightly more power, 85kW compared to the 77kW of the normal 1.6 found in the Polo. Can you check the specs in the manual of the car you want to buy and see what it says, sure it will say if it's the FSI.

I also suspect it could be since it was used in the previous Jetta 5.
 
I had a Jetta 5 1.6 for a short time. Was not the quickest but very comfortable.
