Mkhwebane probes SARS commissioner's recruitment, selection

The woman has no shame. The concourt slaps her down, finds that she lied under oath and misrepresented facts, yet she finds other nonsense to investigate.

In any normal situation, she would have resigned within the hour after the concourt judgement. The Zuptoids are becoming desperate to stay out of jail.

South Africans never resign. That is anti revolutionary.

How is this woman allowed to just run rampantly around doing whatever she pleases?

I mean can someone explain to me how she is the single most powerful person in the country with zero checks and balances on her conduct?

She's doing an awesome job of showing us exactly what the New Dawn is all about

Go Mkhwebane!

Not sure how you can investigate something that is the sole prerogative of the President? I mean what's next, investigating the appointment of the Governor of the Reserve Bank for another term?

Destined to be another smack down of a review in the courts of her eventual findings...

Of course, one should be able to investigate something that is sole prerogative of president. Or she should be able to investigate President as well. This is how it should be. The fact that she is behaving like she is - that is just unfortunate (costly in terms of money & time) fallout of making PP office strong.

More opposition to the dirty Zupta mattress.

Corruption Watch backs calls for parliament to probe Mkhwebane's fitness to hold office

Corruption Watch has called on parliament to initiate an urgent investigation to determine whether public protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane is fit to hold office.

Corruption Watch expressed concern in a letter to National Assembly speaker Thandi Modise and to members of the portfolio committee on justice that while parliament had been called on to act on Mkhwebane's conduct, no concrete steps had yet been taken.

The letter cited the critical role played by the office of the public protector in the fight against corruption and impropriety in state affairs.

Corruption Watch also cited the findings of a number of courts, including the Constitutional Court which on Monday found Mkhwebane to be incompetent, dishonest and biased.

O’Sullivan reminds us that soon after arriving at the PP Busisiwe Mkhwebane instructed staff to switch the internal televisions to the Gupta ANN7 station – helping to inform his view that she is a Zuptoid who was appointed to serve the interests of former president Jacob Zuma and his associates.

He describes the Public Protector’s SARS ‘Rogue Unit’ report as “laughable… I’ve never seen such poor investigative work in my life…” and her report on the Bosasa donation “also laughable…”

His big beef is that despite full knowledge of what the State Capture entities and people like Zuma and Ntlemeza were up, the PP has never investigated a single one of them… “but instead she is going after those engaged in defeating State Capture.”

The complainant really seems to be clutching at straws: https://www.fin24.com/Economy/feria...latest-investigation-into-kieswetter-20190801
Fin24 understands that the Public Protector investigation is considering whether Kieswetter’s many degrees are "relevant" as described in the advertisement. Much decorated, Kieswetter is a cognitive development specialist with a Masters in the field; he has an MBA (Henley); and M.Com (cum laude) from North West University. In addition, he read for a B.Ed (Honours – Mathematics and Science) from UWC, and he has been a Harvard fellow.

Mkhwebane’s investigators are probing whether all these degrees amount to a "relevant degree in finance/law/economics/tax/accounting" as required in the job spec.

It certainly looks like Kieswetter has relevant degrees and experience. I am hoping she decides otherwise as it will be another addition to her loser trophy shelf.

Looks like the anonymous complaint was laid by the EFF, and will result in the same kind of fiasco:
"Moreso, that precedence (sic) was set when the head of the NPA and the SABC Board were appointed. Transparency is also a factor when Judges are interviewed for vacant posts. WHY IS THIS TRANSPARENCY PRINCIPLE NOT APPLIED IN THE CASE OF THE SARS COMMISSIONER? (sic) Which is also a position of equal importance."

Does anyone remember that only a few years ago the EFF had genuine intel on the Zuptas.
