The future of Umkhonto we Sizwe Military Veterans Association (MKMVA) hangs in the balance, with the ANC's national executive committee (NEC) expected to discuss its fate when it meets this weekend.

News24 understands that the party's Peace and Stability sub-committee, which was tasked with investigating divisions between members of the ANC's former military wing, has recommended that the MKMVA be disbanded and fresh elections for positions, inclusive of all the factions, be held.

Divisions came to a head when senior MK members, including commanders, formed a counter group branded the MK Council in the lead up to the ANC's elective conference.

So they are in essence veterans of absolutely nothing.
Not all of them though. But I have seen a few photos of very very young "veterans" during their gatherings. Others were in exile but never saw "action". Some however do fit the general description of military veterans though.

I just found their Wiki page. Upon studying this I retract my previous statement in light of their "campaigns" it has come to my attention that they (more seniors) are indeed veterans, Veterans of Terrorism.

Just my opinion, but in the 'glory days' when the ANC still made good money on taxes, the MKMV was just another source of 'employment' to disburse money to the poor. Now that tax income are dwindling and not as good as it was before, these sources are now draining the income it has and they may well be closing it down or restricting the number of beneficiaries.

Arent you nitpicking now? If I googled for 5 seconds I could call almost any military organization terrorists.

Just based on what is available in Wiki, 13 of the 17 headers are about the murders and atrocities they committed against people in their own country nonetheless. the remaining headings are for Wiki itself apart from their Title.

This makes it very clear that they have not done anything 'good" worthy of note, save for a few articles here and there with a ting or 2 not worth remembering

Just a small point...

The ANC as an organisation has never made money off of taxes... as a governing party they have run the government that collects and uses those taxes, but the ANC directly doesn't make "good" money on taxes to distribute to people in random bodies like the MKMVA

What? When did this happen? (Of their own doing)

You're now scrapping the bottom of the swamp.

But being a "veteran" has absolutely nothing to do with having done anything "good" though?
