Hi guys

any1 know of any software to convert mkv video files to hi def wmv files??? any help, i wana play my mkv files through my mvix but i hav to convert them first...

That only does mkv to avi :( not too sure about a mkv to wma will have to google around for one.
 
MKV is the container. It's not a codec which decides on compression.
MKV files contain embedded soft subtitles (you can switch on/off)
and alternate soundtracks. The codec compressing the video
is usually DivX, xViD or H.264.

You can not convert media which is not in a high quality in a raw format to a better quality by changing the file container.
avi is a container, not a codec.
Anyway, you can use mplayer to play mkv files, mkv is one of the best containers there is. I encode to it. wmv is one of the ***est formats there is.
I used to help develop mplayer.

then from avi u can go to wmp

i can tell you winavi video converter does it and its very user friendly

sound forge you need a degree in rocket science to get it right

winavi converts just about any files to avi dvd or wmp, costs about 30 dollars but its the best program on the market
