I've had at least 6 friends, couple of them who I haven't heard from since high school approaching me over the past 4 weeks regarding a "Once in a lifetime opportunity to make lots of money, all you have to do is pay the $99 monthly membership fee, recruit more friends and sell these vegan sugar pills." (scam)

I know it's a rough time for many because of Covid wrecking the world economy, but in all seriousness, MLM companies (eg Herbalife, NuSkin, Tradera etc, etc etc etc) feeds off people financially fragile, leaving them 99% of the time worse off than before (read scam).

Don't be stupid.

The truth is as a result of the lockdown, many people are looking for how to make money. I’ve gotten so many MLM links myself. I can’t signup on such platforms with a sane mind. It’s like a doom that is waiting to happen. No matter how interesting it may sound, the end is not.

Instead of investing in MLMs, this is the best time to learn about low-risk investments, such as government bonds, REITs, treasury bills, etc. Some days back, I wrote on REITs. I would like you to check it out.

Desperation unfortunately :( people need quick cash to get out of trouble. Good investments take too much time and return too little. And scamming people seems to be OK if its to "feed your kids".

Latest one a lot of people have been bugging me about is Crowd1.

A few years ago, i was being hounded by guys for Worldventures.

Both the above are different from herbalife etc

There is also something called Myworld doing the rounds as well - it's the former Lyoness business rebranded but it's so cheesy and smacks of all the usual indicators that the recruiters use to get you involved.

Illegal in a few countries but it seems that in SA these guys are allowed to operate with no restrictions...

This, a colleague had been hounding all week to watch this video, haven't even opened it yet. Just know it's horse crap.

Herbalife is MLM?

Arguably one of the biggest in the world - although Amway is the real heavyweight in this game - they even have massive lobbying support with Betsy DeVos intimately linked to the company.
