MMA (Mixed Martial Arts)

I like UFC but chicks smacking each other like that is not for me.
I might watch one fight to extinguish my curiosity though :erm:

Edit: Are the women also gonna have "featherweight" "welterweight" and "heavyweight" classes :D
Because a Heavyweight class fight might not be that appealing in the end

Was a good fight. Rousey is just a freak on the ground. 8/8 with armbars now. Insane.

Miesha did really well for me. Think she made a mistake trying to take the fight to Ronda. Should have kept her distance for a while and get into her range.

That being said. Still can't get over that Silva injury. Damn!! Career is probably over. He was clipped in the first round anyway and Chris was looking good.

I think we should start a general MMA thread. Not too many fans on MyBB so individual threads will be a waste.

Can then discuss everything from EFC to UFC in there.

I was looking forward to the womens fight more than the main event. Tate and Rousey go way back, and this isn't the last time we see these ladies hash it out. I was impressed with their fight for a number of reasons, most of which the fact that the fight lasted longer than 60 seconds.

I disagree that it it was a mkstake for "Cupcake" to take the fight to Rousey. She did well to put her on the backfoot for a while.

Rousey didn't expect the first left Tate landed, and you could actually see the surprise on ther face. She seriously underestimated Tate, who did well in staying away from the armbar with a couple of good escapes (for a while, at least).

She was smart to tap out when she knew she was getting broken. It takes longer to heal from a dislocated arm than a defeat in the ring.

Third time's a charm, and I don't think you'll see 7:1 odds in Rousey's favour with the next fight. Maybe 4:1 :)

Yes she did good and I really enjoyed the fight.

I just feel she used up too much energy defending those armbar attempts. Obviously something she worked very hard on. And did well for quite some time.

And she was never ever going to take Rousey down in the clinch. Not with Rousey's impressive Judo skills anyway and especially not with her tactic of rushing in for the clinch. Rousey is too skilled with those hip tosses.

I'm not a big fan of Rousey but I do acknowledge that she is bloody good. I can't wait for the day that she actually loses. Get the feeling she is a very bad loser. Sure as hell is a bad winner.

Bad blood or not. Her refusal to even shake hands with Miesha after the fight was poor. The crowd made their feelings clear too.

Nice.

This is of course the most talked about thing about UFC168.

Just watched the full matches - that was a horrible ending. This is first I've watched and the speculation about their previous fight was interesting. Too late now though - Silva is toast.

Rousey vs Tate - what's the point of complimenting an opponent and not shaking their hand - not very sporting. Rousey was shaken a bit there - she's much better on the takedowns and the grappling. A quicker more powerful opponent that avoids the takedowns and is better at the punches will take her out. That's obviously over-simplified :whistling:.

Wouldn't want to me either in a dark alley .

BTW, what's up with all the earphones around the neck?

Probably sponsored by the brand and they are asked to wear it after the fight.

Only logical explanation for me. Otherwise it is normal douchebaggery :p

Thoughts on UFC169?

It was pretty boring fights. Except for the first fight of the main card. (I haven't watched the prelims yet).

Regarding the stoppage of the main event. Yes it was probably premature but in my opinion it would not have changed the outcome.
