Cape Town - Local mobile services company Grapevine Interactive has developed the world’s first mobile messaging product to fit squarely in the niche between SMS (short message service) and MMS (multimedia messaging service) at less than the cost of two corporate bulk SMS messages.
According to Grapevine Interactive CTO, Cliff Court “mobile marketers, in particular, have been asking for a product offering more than text-only SMS but with less of the complexity and high cost of MMS”.
MMS Lite combines a notification message with a larger rich message.
This rich message includes a heading of up to 500 characters of text plus two images with optional captions. Furthermore, recipients can send a 250-character reply at almost zero cost.
MMS Lite is a particularly relevant product for companies that want to display their brands’ logos, which is not possible with SMS and where MMS often renders poorly on the handset.
Further, the approximately R0.01 cost of reply will encourage feedback from customers who no longer have to pay the cost of a reply SMS or MMS.
Easy-to-use application
MMS Lite will open the way for the next generation of mobile messaging campaigns.
“Grapevine is thrilled to launch a value-for-money messaging product into the market at the very time when cost-conscious companies are looking to squeeze as much as they can from their mobile marketing spend,“ commented Court.
Users create their own MMS Lite campaigns using a browser-based application.
The easy-to-use application also provides comprehensive, real-time reporting, scheduling of broadcasts, and can be used by multiple departments within an organisation with detailed split billing provided each month.
The product can handle messaging volumes in the millions of recipients.
MMS Lite works across all South African mobile operators and internationally on the majority of mobile handsets.
