He can't. If the ANC got 66% of the votes it could happen. They didn't. The constitution has that clause thanks to Madiba and Bizos.

No. Changes to the constitution requires two-thirds majority. But the cANCer is pretty close to that - buying a few opposition party votes could see that happen. It's unlikely but still plausible.

If it ever comes to that, it's tickets for SA.

My question is more if they try rig the election, will anybody notice/do anything?
And what will mmusi possibly able to do then?

Say the ANC sees the DA as a threat and they gaining power too quickly,
Do you think they can do anything about it?

Thats what im afraid of, will the ANC uphold the same laws that brought them to power?
 
I think it'll be a great result for the DA and for the country if he wins DA leadership.The majority of blacks in the country don't want a white person ruling just yet as apartheid is still too fresh in the minds of many voters,there will come a time in the future where it would be possible but not right now.The key is getting the country to that point but with things as they are now on a downward spiral it might never happen ever.

As for Maimane what I've seen of him so far looks positive,an intellectual who is not afraid to get involved.This is in stark contrast to the current President who is an idiot and who came into power Mafia style by forcing his way in.

I'm hoping they can win an election,the country sorely needs a change from the current ANC bozo's in charge.

He's probably single handedly (legitimately) more qualified than half the cabinet put together... I'm very pleased with it and I think he has intelligence and integrity that is so sorely needed for SA

There's no question in my mind that Maimane will be the DA leader and I was so hoping he would make himself available.
The next logical step for the party IS Maimane.

Thank you Helen Zille, I'm proud of you and for the work you have done. Great vision on your part for breaking away so unselfishly with excellent timing. I think you knew all along that the DA desperately needed a new face.

I wouldn't. It would make no sense.
This position is not just about having a competent person at the wheel. The DA need to show the rest of SA that we're not a white party and what better way to show it than with your leader.

With that it is actually no surprise that this play turned out this way; We all knew from the get go someone was being grilled to take over as the head of the DA being black and the girl was not it. * acts surprised *
