Mnet is the only good channel

Can you even get just plain mnet any more? I know that it does still exist and people still subscribe to it, but do they accept any new customers?

I can't find anything on the website about it... the 'get mnet' link just goes to the dstv site.

You probably have to go into your local mnet office and slip the quy a C-note under the table. :)

wtf dstv is not expensive

oms im tired of hearing this to be honest

first off mnet sucks ass

lets see what dstv offers for your 500 bucks:

sport im talking just about every sport you can imagine they have it
movies yes tons of movies, if you dont rent or watch big screen movies they have plenty of movies we have not seen
they have discovery history animal planet etc
all the sabc channels(not worth watching most of the time)

cooking fashion
music channels

omw im going to be honest and say for 500 bucks a month dstv rocks hard

Then why spend so much time scouring the newsgroups? It cant all be for porn :p

Compared to overseas (and yes imo because they have a monopoly an overseas comparison is valid) its overpriced.

bwana i would pay 500 rand just for the sport

no no news groups are awesome for porno no doubt but i dont watch alot of tv so i miss alot of tv series like 2 and half men war at home heroes etc

so much on tv so little time to watch it

when i sit down on a sat i can watch football from 2-7 just that is worth 500 bucks :)
being able to watch every single rugby game cricket game tennis match if i wanted to is worth 500 bucks :)

lets not get started on history discovery national, those are just awesome

for me 500 bucks for 28-31 days of tv aint bad

considering they are a monopoly they dont rip off that badly to be honest
telkom rip us off to the max

if telkom where dstv we would be paying twice much with half the content i can assure you

It is still around, but the are no longer taking on subscribers. The old style decoders (analog) are not made any more, so if you want just MNET, it is via Sat only.

The repeats during Prime Times are painful.

And you can only get it as part of the full dstv package?

The only reason someone has for owning a tv is sports. I dont care for sports at all, so im just not gonna get a tv.. =)

That's the thing, though:
1) I really only watch the sitcoms,
2) I don't have time to watch much of that,
3) I'm not interested in sport

so to me R500 is a lot to pay per month. I'd rather they unbundled the channels and let me pay just for the channels I want to watch. Even something like dstv compact would work, except that I want mnet.

DSTV is turning my brain into mush. I can zombie out in front of the box for hours on end watching absoultely nothing of consequence.

I love DSTV.... *sigh*

Can you still pay for a full years subscription to DSTV upfront and get the 12th month free?

I remember DSTV advertising that offer a few years ago.

You can get mnet ONLY, you have to speak to the DSTV Multichoice people, and you still use a DSTV decoder, but only get MNET. It's like R239.00 or something though.

You definitely get standalone MNet decoders. Not sure if it's changed recently to DStv decoders only.

I think I may be mistaken, but I seem to remember reading somewhere that Mnet is switching over to a digital signal rather than analog.... Not sure though.
