MNP question(s)

Got a call on Friday from the lady I submitted my porting request with...
It appears that in the time my port was rejected and when they phoned me, they gave my phone away, which is what I was waiting for in the first place for 2 weeks... before submitting the port request and now I have to wait for more stock again before they resubmit.

Luckily, on Saturday she phoned me again, they got some special stock for me on my phone and will be submitting today again for porting.

Lets see what happens this time.

Just got a SMS again from Vodacom, port rejected again....
same reason as first post... wtf :(

w00t!!

Update:
Seems MTN must have contacted Vodacom or did a resubmit again, cause after 4pm I received another SMS from Vodacom saying it is successful.
So it looks like I am good to go and come onto the MTN network.
Oh Joy! :D

Another MNP question

If I sign up to a 24 month MTN contract, can I port my number at a later stage ?

e.g:

Keep my original assigned MTN number for first two months and then port an 084 number to the MTN contract. (Discard the original assigned MTN number in the process).

What you are wanting to do is not referred to as a port. Don't think there is a name for it.... ;)
A port is classified as moving your current MSISDN number from one Network Provider to another Network Provider.

You cannot 'port' between contracts or prepaid sims in the same network provider.

Also, if you are in your contract term, and want to port, you will have to pay a cancellation / termination fee for getting out of the contract early. It is best to wait to port to another network when your contract has expired.

In your case, it would perhaps be best to port your 084 number to one of the other networks on Prepaid, and then port back to MTN on the contract you desire. of course, then your 24 month contract with the number you don't want will be wasted for naught

Maybe the 'guru's have some other advice too.

Update:
The port went through last night. My vodacom SIM didn't want to work anymore.

Inserted the MTN SIM and we be rearing for lift-off. :D

Thanks guys, especially MTNDD for getting on the porting people's cases when I needed it most.
Much appreciated. Job well done! :)

I also need to thank Noleen from MTN Service Centre @ Century City who sorted me out quick-quick with another handset and everything else. :)
