Mnp

Hi MTN DD,

OK, hopefully my last set of questions on MNP...

My strategy for porting my number from an existing Autopage (MTN) contract to an existing MTN SP contract:
  1. Do an MSISDN swap between Autopage contract SIM and prepaid SIM
  2. Port the prepaid number to MTNSP prepaid
  3. Do an MSISDN swap between the prepaid SIM and MTN SP contract SIM
My questions:
  1. Who "owns" the prepaid SIM MSISDNs that you buy at a normal retailer? Should I be able to do an MSISDN swap at Autopage? I think this will be the most difficult step...
  2. Porting from MTN prepaid to MTN prepaid is supported, right?
  3. Do you foresee any problems with the MSISDN swap at MTN SP?

If all else fails, I'll just sacrifice my number. I'm not THAT attached, but it would be nice to keep it.

Thanks

I've recieved no reply as yet will advise as soon as I do

Hi,

Currently you cannot port any Contract MTN Number to pre-paid, irrespective of the Service Provider. MTN Network owns all pre-paid numbers, not the service providers. The customer will have to port to another network on pre-paid and in 2 months port to MTN pre-paid. The MTN contract to pre-paid process should be finalised within a couple of months though.

Should the customer wish to do the MTN MSISDN swap after 2 months, he could indicate beforehand and the MNP support team could contact the activations department and enquire if this would be signed off in advance.

Alternatively he could wait till MTN finalises the process.

Many thanks
