Mob justice

Mob killings over stolen clothing! That's extreme! Where do we draw the line between condoning the mob justice if it was violent crime or petty theft? And who decides how much pain should be dished out in each case? what benchmark is used ;)
Are we gonna behave like these criminals and have warped ideas of whats right and wrong and are we going to behave just like these barbaric swines.
Its a tough one, I'm for and against, for it based on the nature and severity of the crime, factual evidence and lack of the criminal justice system to take action(rape, murder etc). But totally against senseless murder over material items such as clothing.
I really wanna say mob justice is wrong but i can relate to why its done, why has it become so hard to be decent human being in this place...

I watched it from start to finish and one sentence from Debora Patta enraged me beyond belief.

"Mob justice undermines the rule of law"

Despite all her journalistic experience she actually doesn't understand that the rule of law ceased to exist years ago and mob justice is the direct result of the collapse of law and order.

The ANC has plunged the country into a new mfecane but the key players do not care because they all have armed guards and live in protected fortresses, safe from the widespread chaos and warfare raging among ordinary people battling to survive.

I heard it as well. It was so out-of-character with her pit-bull nature that I assumed that there was political pressure. I cut her some slack.

I'm not saying it's good. I'm saying the comunities are tired of seeing the criminals back in the comunity doing the same thing they did with in days of being arrested.

And if Criminals are scared of mob justice it's good since they feel Fut all for the police and a day in jail.

Well to us who can afford clothes with relative ease this may seem a bit overboard, but with these people, they may have to save up for a month or even a couple of months just to buy a new pair of jeans so you can understand their anger if you look at things from their perspective can't you?

If they get the right guy and police screw up then yes, seems its the only way to get rid of drug dealers in some areas.
I'm completely in favour of killing people who attack or kill drug dealers.

What mob has access to factual evidence?

I can totally understand their anger and frustration, but there is just something so wrong with comparing a human life to a pair of jeans, does your frustration of injustice by law enforcement justify you killing for it. The thing I'm conflicted with is how do we measure if the mob punishment fits the crime committed? If stealing cloths gets you stoned to death, what does stealing food or a tv get you? Does it depend on the mood of the mob on the day? Is it ever right? I'm still in two minds about it...

What mob has access to factual evidence?

Being caught in the act or in possession of the good is factual.

Being caught in the act or in possession of the good is factual.
So for example a woman screams that she is being raped, I hear it and approach to find her lying on the ground. Mob arrives to find me leaning over her, caught in the act. Or thief steals some items, drops one as they run past me. I pick it up and am then caught in possession of the good by the mob.

Sure, but you're okay with people who attack them being put to death?
No, a similar beating would suffice I'm sure.
