Mobile data bundle pricing comparison

Telkom is good, the only other choice is Cell C

Only MTN seems to understand the idea of OOB rates and how to structure these intelligently. Not that they can understand how to create packages for contract customers, they lost me on voice due to the poor idiotic data bundling.

CellC FTW though. Vodacom will probably start giving data bundles for free because they get a chance to hook you in and rape you.

What is critically important to note is that the Telkom Mobile/8ta data packages are valid until the end of the FOLLOWING calender month. Buy on 1/04/2013 and the data only expires on 1/06/2013.

Cell C is really giving the others the middle finger, well I guess Vodacom and MTN give the public the middle finger every day so.......:)

Awesome as they are, CellC need to compete more at the higher end - 15c/MB is awesome for casual users. Over 2GB though, the others start catching up. Admittedly CellC doesn't require 2yr contracts and their offerings can be bolted onto most contracts.

CellC for me :)

As already stated, CellC wins in the lower tiered packages. Personally I don't think it's too bad that their higher up packages are on the expensive side. If you're using one or two gigs a month you can get them for a lot cheaper on a one year contract anyways.

Would be good to include how long the data bundle is valid for, makes for an informed choice when purchasing bundles.

ie, 30 days, 365 days etc

@Kwerty, I think Giga package competes well on the higher end esp on the off peak downloads. The Giga 20 cost R189 x 12 months for sim only and u get 5Gb Peak Download and 15Gb Off-Peak Download.

The Giga 10 for R149 you can bolt on to your existing contract.

The 8ta 10gb for R199 is good value for money but my friend has one in his ipad and he says that 8ta only coverage is limited when traveling

Cell C for the Win

i think the game needs to be changed now, the data you use on GPRS is not depleted at the same speed and time as in 3G,HSDPA ,HSPA, and LTE, so as a result each network speed capacity must be sold to the device and the price must apply solely on that or those equivalent devices for example 3G(2GB - R60) and GPRS(2GB - R100). Think about it, what is a 15MB on an LTE device, nothing.

Good one LOL, so should petrol being sold to fill up a VW Beetle be more expensive than petrol sold to a someone driving a SUV, because, according to your argument, the Beetle will use up it's fuel slower ? Petrol is petrol, and data is data....regardless of how fast you consume data, compared to a slower connection, you still using the same data to download a 1 GB file.

I'm really happy with my prepaid 24 GB (to be used as you want without a 2GB/month quota) from Neotel. It cost R799, and that includes the dongle. Speeds for me are fine, and in 10 months I've yet to experience a dropped connection.
