Wondering if those who cant eat today will be around for 2010
Or those without work will have work
Or if the cost of food and shelter will come down
personally, i couldn't care less about technology getting better and faster.

Indeed. Ever more rapid development and consumption at what environmental cost?
Noble, but a bit short sighted IMO. Maybe my comment is out of the blue, but so is yours...
Technology drives economies, economies drive jobs, jobs feed people etc...
The lower class simply needs to be elevated to the middle working class...
mkay... where you hiding the HinderNet pole??Would be cool if we could all live off the land. Would mankind be willing to take a knock in medicinal technology etc, for the sake of living more in harmony with the environment? We would all have to adopt more simple lifestyles. The global population will inevitably drop dramatically because living simple means living for yourself and looking after yourself and your closest family. Loads of folks would die of hunger! City life will go to hell. AMEN!
I am personally all for a more simple life, but it is a bit late for mankind. The best we can do is turn our urban living slightly toward lodge living. You know... kinda like this http://www.big-sandy-lodge.com/scr-bscabins1.jpg
A counter argument can comfortably be made by highlighting the fact that a very large number of people have lost their jobs thanks to technology advancement. Of course, one would have to do a very lengthy study to establish the difference in the number of people who have lost their jobs and the number of people that now have jobs because of technology advancement.Noble, but a bit short sighted IMO.
