Mobile floor crossing

Dropping the x term contracts should accompany number portability. The two should go hand in hand without incurring penalties.

LOL RPM this sound like politics ...floor crossing....

The operator getting the new customer, or the service provider, will have to pay any customer acquisition costs incurred to the operator losing the customer as a result of having ported between operators

Just another possible way of preventing consumers to cross floors ? They will just transfer the costs over to the incumbent, thus having to pay breach of contract penalty as well as "acquisition" costs whatever this may be ?? so the status quo remains...what is the use of such legislation ? ..

At least consumers can then change providers at the end of the contract period and retain old numbers? ..one day...
Also this would keep providers on their toes, not to upset the consumers!

hopefully (big hopefully) we can finally see some competition as operators try to keep their customers. no longer are we tied down by the inconvenience of having to change a number when changing operators. maybe there's hope for those locked into any telkom contract as well. they say 9 months but who knows, ICASA's regulations on its findings were due end of august and we still waiting, so lets wait and see...

I'll finally be able to switch from Vodacom/Hellkom to MTN without losing my number.
