We want free money for doing nothing because we see other people making money.

Internet access is internet access. Starting to charge based on what a person does on the internet becomes a a dangerous pass time…

What is their idea, give us free internet if they get this kite to fly?

That is we pay Netflix etc. - Netflix etc. then pays them?

This new incarnation of the clash between operators and OTTs has been given a clever name — “Fair Share”. Carriers say OTTs must contribute their fair share to the infrastructure they benefit from.

“Fair share arrangements ensure that OTT providers contribute their fair portion to the costs of building, maintaining, and upgrading the infrastructure that supports their business,” ACT said in its paper.

Fantastic idea.

Netflix/Facebook/Microsoft/Google/Apple should also then charge MTN/Vodacom for their own infrastructure builds and operating costs. You know, the massive data centres they run that are used to generate the content and data that MTN/Vodacom benefit from by being able to charge customers a data fee. Why should MTN/Vodacom get the benefit of this data generation system for free?

Heck, even this comment is "data" that is traversing the MTN/Vodacom network that they are charging someone else for and making money. Where can I send my invoice to get my fair share of the monies for this comment?
 
Ah and after that, lets get all the car manufacturers to pay for our road infrastructure.... FML

They know how to make profit, but they want more.
 
Sad when you get to the point that you dispose your own countrymen due to their enlarged ego's and delusional sense of entitlement. No wonder South Africa is known for its high profit margin. (No, if you read the so called "fact checkers" (Paid Woke morons) then you already know the only thing in dispute was the percentage profit, not that South Africa has a higher has a higher profit margin then its European counterparts. Living in an exploitative business environment, where the entitlement knows no bounds is not the best solution for anyone.
