mobile phone dails foriegn number when using it as a modem.

A friend of mine have a nokia n73 and he is having a porblem connecting to the internet from his computer. The problem is that when he connects then he will stay connected for 20 seconds max. Then suddenly it will disconnect and tries to dail a 0442324453223 number. Then is will disconnect. I have removed all the data accounts and set it up again by dailing *111#. But stil no luck.

I told him that i think it may be a virus. We also tried his wife's samsung j700 and it does the same.

Any advice plz?

PS: i do know alot about setting it up. The number that is usualy used is *99#

could possibly be that he's infected with some trojan which'll try to phone an expensive phone line.

download and install spybot s/d with updates and see if it can flush that bugger out.

Won't help. The_Librarian is spot on I think. This 'problem' is a documented one that I have dealt with myself quite a few times. The virus calls premium international numbers that (usually) racks up some $$$ for the virus writer. Any anti-virus/spyware app should take care of it quick quick.

It happens on two different phones, it's more likely the problem is a "porn dialer" on the PC.

I had that same virus!
Eventually i got paranoid and did a hard reset to the n73 and updated pc antivirus.
It is a bastard!
Got it from a horrid torrent site!

luckily i did not connect my phone to that persons computer. Then i would have the same virus
