Just a quick question. All I want to do is stream youtube, browse and maybe emails. Dont have Adsl right now, but what would be a sufficient mobile package be in terms of data.

How much would youtube consume in terms of data, over say any other streaming apps etc?

Let say a clip is around 5 to 10 mins, and the clip is of SD quality. What am I looking at? Bearing in mind I still somehow want to reach the end of the month, or at the very least get close to the end.

How often are you going to be watching these clips?

At random times. Alot of it will be just football highlights of English championship games, as my team plays in the 2nd tier of English football.

Telkom mobile has 120 GB prepaid for R1800 valid for one year.That should be more than enough I think.

In Firefox on a PC with Flashgot and Downthemall, I can see the sizes of all the video qualities. Range from 5mb low to 65mb+ for a HD music video. Low can be bigger depending on length etc.

Interesting. I dont have a pc right now. Media player with youtube, phone with youtube and tablet with youtube will be my means of doing this. Think im going to try and side load Tubemate on the Xtreamer, and see if it works and if I can install the apk. Then perhaps download the videos off youtube, and watch like that.

Ok, so I did a quick check on my tablet using Tubemate.

Video 1
09:20

640x320 = 24.5MB
1024x720 = 82MB

Video 2
45:00
640x320 = 150MB
No bigger version available

Can you stream that video and compare the data it consumes, as compared to downloading it?
