Mobile technology in fast lane

ANALYSTS predict that wireless and mobile broadband data traffic will increase tenfold by 2015 and its growth will be spurred by fourth generation (4G) technology, known as long-term evolution (LTE).

My needs aren't for 100mbps capable downloads. I know other people will love such high speeds, but for me about 10mbps would be fine. The only thing that I need is very low international pings. Sub 100ms would be nice. Oh and a much bigger cap of course!

I would be happy with the current technologies if they would only deliver as promised. I have tried different operators, different computers, different locations and different websites/pop servers and seldom do I get more than a short spike above 1 mbps! usually it's considerably less.

In fact, the following article confirms my suspicions! UK Mobile speeds are only 24% of what is advertised:

if a great wireless tech comes along then Telkom won't have a monopoly on the local loop
