@rain_mobile @rain_networks

I have just reported in detail to RAIN of an issue where our modem connects to the correct tower but has no data flowing to it.

When logging into the modem no Ping tests can be done as it indicates that the network is unreachable.

RAIN's first response has been that the tower is fine and that my connection is fine and that my account is fine.

The RAIN rep has indicated that he/she will escalate the matter to their network support.

Let's see how this one turns out.

Hi @Digital_Nomad

We are looking into it for you.

Good news RAIN!

Out of frustration, I quickly took the sim card out of my Huawei B315s and placed it into my standby Huawei USB dongle modem and the internet worked 100% with the USB dongle.

Placed the sim back into the Huawei B315s after which it connects like before, but still no data throughput. To save time, I did a full factory reset on the B315s after which it seems to be working 100%.

So RAIN is off the hook for this one, but as usual I'd just like to thank the RAIN rep here on MBB for being so quick to respond and his/her willingness to help.

Are you having issues with your speed?

Initially when we moved to our new location, I could barely open google.com and throughput was about 200KB/s. Turned out that my little USB dongle was just to weak and also kept connecting to a tower far from here and which was also heavily saturated. So with no way to force the modem to connect to the correct tower, the equipment was replaced with the Huawei B315s which on its own already solved all the problems, but just in case I also hooked up a Poyting external antenna.

During the day my download speeds are around 10 to 15 Mbps which is acceptable for our situation, in the early morning when fewer people are on the tower, I can get about 20 Mbps. This has been stable for the last 12 months at least.

I honestly can't say what's wrong with your connection, but it would appear that RAIN's equipment and bandwidth provisioning is not the same everywhere.

Perhaps the rep here can look into it for you?
