If you log on to the aussie iburst sites, their modem cost is AU$199 x 4.5 = R900 - thats without a contract!

Now WBS say "we can't do anything about the modem cost, we don't make a cent on it' - RUBBISH I SAY. The same unit here is R2800.

WBS - make iburst affordable, people want to use the service, but how can they with ridiculous startup costs!

The 2 year contracts are also an issue. When you buy a cellphone contract, you get the phone free (and its worth well over R3k), this is also for 2 years. If i was WBS, i am guaranteeing my income for 2 years, i would want to incentivise it!

WBS, come on the modem cost is ridiculous. I also thought WBS's license said they have to rollout to underserviced areas. If the intention is to reach the previously disadvantaged, how can they realistically pay these setup costs?

I buy good quality ADSL modems for about R500. ADSL gives better coverage and is more stable than iburst. Come on, please compete properly as the service *****COULD***** be AWESOME.

im sure they will drop the prices of the modems soon as they are basically dumb units that just sit there. would be better if they could self explode, then there would be something interesting happening.

I was informed there planned target price for a modem within 2 years will be $100

I think the reason the price is so high is so that the underprviledged areas can be subsidised .???

I think its so they can pay for thier infrustructure, surley people anywhere, wether its in a mansion or cave would have to pay the same price
