Modem not synchronizing

I recently bought a new ADSL modem-router, a Netgear DGN-1000. It's been working perfectly up to now, but last night there was a thunderstorm and I suspect the router has been hit.

Now the line won't synchronize and the light just keeps on flickering. I've tested it with an usb modem and then it works. However the Wifi and ethernet ports still works.

So is my modem dead? Can it be fixed? It's still under warranty, so can it be replaced'

Maybe try and return it to the people you purchased it from?

I am no expert and not sure but I would think if your router were to be hit by lightning it would be completely dead?
