I wouldn't suggest taking out a contract with any ISP for a modem.

You should never take a contract with regards to Internet, there's always specials and discounts from different providers often

Hi There,
I would go with a contract and then choose the modem that I want to use.

Gives you more options as I have found many of the modems on the contract do not offer all the capabilities that you would like.
Just look around this site and you will see a lot of comments in that regard.
