Hi Guys

I've just had my clutch pedal conk in, it literally felt like a snap and all of a sudden no pedal. With luck and quite a bit of revving and unusually daring driving (daring for me, but I drive like an old lady) on my part I actually made it up the m***se hill we live on. But now I am trying to figure out if the car uses a cable or hydraulic connection / device / mechanism to work the clutch.

I get a lot of hits on google for a clutch cable, for 2006 Renaults, but I'm confused as to which Renault it is for. I am not a car fundi, and the guy I would usually go to for "small stuff" is on his way up north. So any help and hints you guys could give would be truly appreciated.

:o

Look under the dash... is the pedal still connected to anything? If not, you should see a place where the pedal will fit in.

If the pedal is still in place as it should be, the clutch master cylinder popped...

I'm assuming the car is similar to the Megane 2

I think it is, but it's been fixed. Some connector bit popped out. The guy that did the service couple of months back initially quoted us +- R7k for the cylinder to be replaced, but my dad had a hunch to check the connection. So when we phoned the guy to find out if that specific part can be replaced he told us yes, but you have to buy the whole damn cylinder. End result? The "peg" was put back in, and then wire was applied for extra strength, until we can maybe source from a scrapped car. So far, so good.

Ah yes, the stealerships....

Most things in life, can be fixed, without the stealerships...
