Hey guys

wondering if anyone can assist, I need to find me a way to monitor the bandwith over a diginet from JHB to DBN (point to point) over time. We need usage stats to determine if we can drop or need to increase the line speed.

a cisco 2100 router is being used for the connection,

any help would be appreciated

Look for a piece of software called "PRTG" it's free for a couple of sensors. You can get inbound and outbound graphs with intervals from 1 minute to a year. Think that should cover you :)

Or you could go the hardware route and get something like a Mikrotik router to monitor.

You could check out 'Solarwinds' they have a whole host of network monitoring software, some free, some on free trial that will give you the info you require.

speak to your provider, they should be able to provide granular stats (check the IS customerzone if you are with them)

This isn't free - but awesome visibility, shaping and reporting :

Plus is that it can be licensed for WAN optimization if and when you're ready.

I use solarwinds netflow analyser, its free for two sensors afaik but will do exactly what you want.
