Monitor setup for coding

Hi guys,

So it's time for me to upgrade my monitor, what would be best for a coder?

2 X 22'' or 1 X 27''?

What should I look for if I am spending long hours?

My current set up is 1 x 25" 1440p and a 23" 1080p. Going to get another 25" one as the extra real estate on 1440p is really great for coding.

Dual 27" monitors for me is a bit too big for the desk and the price for 27" 1440p monitors is a bit steep (and 1080p on 27" just looks crappy).

Guess it depends on aspect ratio.. If I had a choice I'd go for a large but long curved screen for desktop. Flat screens mean u have to turn more and I reckon most people stop at 1x24' + 1x15 length.

So yah maybe a 34' like these look good..

2 > 1. Wide screens are a pain. I use 2*22 FHD at home and 2 at work, not sure what size but they are 1920*1200.

I have had many different configurations over the years, but my current one is the one that keeps me comfortable at my PC for many many hours a day.
Main is a 1440p 27" Dell with a 1080p 27" Dell on either side of it. Works well, and looks sexy!

I used to use 2 x 24" at work ... it depends on the space between yourself and the monitor ... sometimes you end up turning your neck alot in that setup, making you form a "curved" or v shape with the 2 monitors. Not sure if people intentionally do this or not, and also not sure what you're supposed to do from an ergonomic standpoint either.

in hindsight to that experience, the 2 x 22" (or 21") comment seems to be most appropriate

I also saw somebody use 3 x 24" with one setup in complete vertical.
Another guy uses 2 x 24" verticals

depending on how good you are with screen real estate, the 40" 4k idea is not a bad idea too

I use three screens, 2x 23" IPS screens and my laptop screen. It makes life a heck of a lot easier.
