Hi all

I need advice on a Monitor and the Panel Type. I saw an LG 27inch 75hz 2ms which had a TN Panel Type. I saw a Samsung 27inch with 60hz 4ms which had a PLS Panel Type and then a AOC 27inch 75hz 5ms IPS Panel Type. Those are all on special.

Both Samsung and LG have Amd Freesync which I need and the AOC doesn’t and the AOC is missing features. Which one do I go for?Light Gaming,Browsing,Music,Videos.

Any help would be Great

At what resolution? You don't want 1080p at 27 inches. At that size you want 1440p

I have/had a1440p Monitor which broke it was 155hz 1ms but I would prefer a 1080p because it’s also budget friendly so I’m looking at a new one but not sure about the panel type. A 24inch is so small compared to the 27?ive never had one.

I know your right the pixels are further apart on the 27, but its still the same number of pixels and same ratio, just lower pixels per square inch. But sitting close it doesn’t really effect me

Weird...the closer you are to a screen, the more the pixel density matters. I've used 1080p 27" monitors and wouldn't want another.

If I were getting something new, I'd get this AOC C24G1 24" VA 144hz with Freesync

VA has better image quality than TN while TN transitions quicker (generally).

I actually prefer a higher pitched monitor since I regularly work with individual pixels. Anything lower than .25 mm is a no-no for me. It's in any case not something that matters when you're more than half a meter from a monitor as both high pitched and low pitched monitors won't show individual pixels.

You might also want to look at the dead pixel policy.

I'm currently using a 1080p 27" and it's fine, might be because it's an ips panel but it looks pretty good. I'd not get a 1080p bigger monitor.

I agree that 1080p is too low a res for a 27", but I guess if it doesn't bother you, you'll be fine. Especially if you're just gaming and consuming content, I don't really see the need for a higher resolution.

As an only monitor, I would prefer an IPS panel over freesync. I have a freesync monitor, and see the flickering complained about in this reddit post in some games. I have a Mecer VA monitor and a nVidia gpu though, but it does seem the problem appears across a range of configurations.
Compared to my IPS (factory calibrated Dell p2715q), my TN and VA monitors look like crap, and yes, it is noticeable in games.
My 5ms VA also has worse streaking than my 8ms IPS.

Anyway, just looking at the specs and what you want, the Samsung is what you get.
PLS is supposedly IPS-like, and it has the Freesync and features you want. I would personally rather get the AOC, which has a higher refresh rate, and proper IPS.

That’s exactly what I mean.1440p/1080p honestly makes no difference to me especially gaming!!

@barbadian Conan. Ye I think it’s PLS is the way to go. The Samsung is nice and it’s 10mm So it’s Slim. I didn’t see an Aoc with ips only tn. Your monitor is great at that resolution you don’t need a higher refresh rate in my opinion

Yeah don't buy off Amazon. The biggest reason for monitor returns is dead or stuck pixels and they happen quite often.

Definitely and you don’t no what your getting until the box opens. Have you ever tried overclocking your Monitor via amd or Nvidia?Ive herd you can get 80hz from a 60hz Monitor but you can damage your screen
