Is this standard practice for ISPs to have to give a months notice to transfer a line back to telkom?

Hi Alan, send me a PM with your MWEB details and I will have a look into this for you.

Thanks but am I am not with MWEB but Webafrica unfortunately nobody is replying to my inquiry in the relevant thread.

I don't know about a months notice, but it definitely takes a while to transfer it back.

To transfer the line back to Telkom takes between 5 and 14 days AFAIK. Although it should happen fast

Edit: MWEB Guy, what are you doing here? :p

I'm aware about the time it takes to transfer the line. Just surprised I have to give a months notice.

Just trying to help :)

Poor MWEB Guy not getting off for the holidays like most other reps

I won't give you flack over the holiday season :)

Thanx, I really appreciate it :)

I hope you have a great and safe new year.

Webafrica claim they cannot 'wave' the the months notice because my invoice has already been generated :erm:

Edit: surely somebody around here has transferred a line from an ISP and knows whether they had to give a months notice or not.

The administrative process to usually takes about 1 week, but some ISPs slap on further notice periods.

With MWEB, I had to give a calendar month's notice. With Afrihost, it had to be done before the next billing cycle (25/26th of the month). Telkom is the best - they do it ASAP. Sometimes it's even less than 7 days, and they will bill you pro-rata, instead of a full month.
