Moore’s Law is dead

Well, we're right at the limit of quantum tunneling of electrons through transistors, so I guess we now need to build up not just sideways. Moore's law will be back - I promise :)

Obviously it was never a law, based in physics. But the fact that his observation/prediction held for so long is mind blowing.
 
It is all planar technology so far. Add another layer, it will double number of transistors. Find out how to interract between layers, you are going for 3-dimentional model which will free lot of space currently wasted for interconnections. In effect transistor density will increase even further.
