depends on your needs hey, if its gaming you want go for g35s, allot of gamers will suggest you the g35s or use it them self.

i use them they are great, the mic is high quality , which i love as i am on ts/vent 24/7, you don't want to be the noob with that
crappy mic :P

allot of top gamers like nsd etc use g35s to game with.

music just go seinheisser with decent sound card.

Hmmm dammit heretic now i dunno what to do.

I want a new headset but people tell me seinheissers are the best for gaming. They sound much better than anything else by a country mile. Have you used seinheisser?

I have a G35 and it's very good. Only issue after two years the coating on the pads started peeling. I have peeled it off and it's fine.

As others have said, it depends completely on your needs.

The G35:
- is awesome for gaming - it has good surround reproduction (best I've heard on a set of headphones), good base and decent sound quality. Good surround sound can be a competitive advantage in some games.
- includes a mic - always a nice perk
- looks cool, and is very comfortable
- is robust in terms of damage that would prevent it functioning, but does have some cosmetic issues (mainly with the cord, and with the rubber coating peeling off)
- will be decent for music, but not amazing, considering the price.

A pair of Sennheisers for a similar price will be:
- Much more accurate and true sound reproduction
- Will be better for listening to music
- Will allow you to tell the difference between low bit-rate MP3's and CDs :)
- Doesn't have surround sound or a mic
- May sound a bit "flat" if you are used to listening to music on more run of the mill sound hardware, that generally trend towards being bass heavy and having a "pumped up" sound to them

Disclaimer: I'm not an audiophile or expert, and these are just my opinions. But I have had the opportunity to use and test most of the surround sound headsets on the market, and a good number of Sennheisers too :)

People please, let's not forget that G35 are not physical 7.1 and merely make use of Dolby tech to provide virtual 7.1 on a 2 channel head set.

The same can be had with Sennheiser or other higher end headphones, and a much better more accurate experience, with a suitable sound card (most Asus Xonar range has the Dolby presets). At around double the price, of course. But it's an investment. Sennheiser headphones are modular and all parts replaceable so will last for years.

If specifically gaming and budget is limited to R1,000 then get the G35 but remember they are over hyped mass produced "gaming" (low quality) cans targeted at mass market who don't know much about sound and think they are getting something extraordinary because it's Logitech's flagship wired model.

Pity when HD555 are about R100 more imported in light of all the detailed advice you've been given.

I read they were discontinued, that is why i was thinking about those ones. Anyways after reading irg's post i am set on the xonar sense or whatever that thing from asus is called. Just gotta get half a minute to pop into esquire and hope they are still 1.8k ex vat or they could have been 2.3k ex vat either way not serious. Got the cash just need a second to drop off there. Hopefully tomorrow after my meetings at TUT garankuwa, then hit my client in pta and fly to esquire for my new precious.

It also comes with a mic at least so i won't have to wear two headsets haha but i am gonna come looking for you if they are let down :p, i doubt they will be though.

They are discontinued, still available though.

You needed him to post to confirm this to you, after myself and others spend hours advising people on this stuff based on our own experience? Eish.

Or you can do HD5xx + Zalman clip on mic for R50.

Depends what you value more, gaming or music.

Gaming. I like music but i spend most of my time gaming.

Yup but you said one thing and then another guy said the difference for gaming is not that great, so i was torn plus irg was not at happy at first but then was blown away :D. I also was not sure which pair to buy but it is clear now. I never doubted they were good i just wasn't sure if they were 2.5k good as i am also wanting a 40-46 inch tv for my gaming :D so i need to ensure i am not wasting money on slightly better so i don't just take one person's word for it i like to get a few people's opinions. I never doubted they were good i just doubted if they were 2.5k good and irg confirmed it for me because he has the actual model i want.

They're essentially R1.5k with a R1k sound card that seals the deal by providing the required amplification the PC350's need (150Ohm), compared to your normal head/earphone drivers that are sufficiently powered by a usual 3.5mm jack which provides around 40Ohm.

But fair enough.

I don't think you understand that I am a gamer. Maybe then you would trust me more. ;)

No but it's not that i don't trust you, i just want more opinions. I know it seemed like i was going out of my way to be annoying but like i said i am not going to buy stuff based on one or two opinions. I got good feedback from you and some other guys so now i am convinced. Are those 350's good though? Did asus take the cheap seinhesser and just add in a card or what? Naaa you know leave it the xonar sense has everything i want, it's made for gaming has a mic and i have already ordered it from esquire so it's a sealed deal.
