(More) Bad signs for Blu-ray

That is bollocks mate...

True story!!! Check your previous posts on the subject.
Looks like you got some PS3 envy. LOL :D

But seriously a great game is a great game no matter the platform.
This is where you need to seperate your love/hate of the platform in question to be objective.

Or even something like genre. Im not particularly into RPG/jRPG but I look at something like Lost Oddysey and it looks damn good and I can appreciate it for what it is.

Absolutely!!! His post always begins with... "But I cant see why this could not be done on the xbox..."

Don't try to fob him off, just because he's right ;) It's very easy to say it's undoable when it's exclusive, but with the number of "de-exclusives" the PS3 is enduring I think it's blatantly obvious that, in fact anything the PS3 can do the 360 can do too, equal or better.

The difference is that the 360 doesn't have to keep trying to prove itself. It sets the bar that the PS3 constantly tries to cross. unsuccessfully. Yet every PS3 exclusive that gets released is "best eva", "photo realistic", "better than Pixar". What nonsense. I can't believe anyone actually tried to say "Resistances looked better that Gears" with a straight face.

Probably could have been done on the PS3. That im not going to debate...
All I was saying is leave the xbox/ps3 debate out of it and appreciate a game for what it is.

I seriously doubt RFOM will match up to GOW. I should actually get a copy and check it out tho...

+1 after playing GT5p i just wanted to get back to forza (cars bouncing unscathed of a wall is not my kind of real racingsimulator)

[email protected] debate is actually about BD and how it seems to be failing.

Taking that in consideration, my post was quite valid due to the reasoning behind many (if not all) PS3 fanboys that it could not be done on the 360 because of the lack of the BD.

And in that regard you are probably correct... But I dont agree with your comment of 2 year old Gears looking better than MGS4. MGS4 is a graphical masterpiece. And that was where you went off topic.

Flamebait alert!!

Ok, I'll admit that the 2 years old Gears does not look better than MGS4 , but I guarantee you, GOW2 will! :D:p

As for MGS4 being a graphical materpiece...ummm...no.
There is nothing that makes it a graphical masterpiece except Kojimaism. ;)

I'm busy playing gears at the moment, and the graphics are good, even if the game is 2years old.

One thing i have noticed though is that there is not much colour in the game, everything is very grey, also most of the game is indoors/close quarters. So there is not much draw distance.

Like i said the graphics are very good, but i think its not because the Xbox is more powerfull, but rather because of "clever coding".

Umm...i thought that the post was very concise and clear. ;)

I posted my thoughts on MGS4 after I played (somewhere on this forum), there is GRAPHICALLY no reason why the game could not have been done for the 360.
There is nothing special about the enemy AI, enemies are hardcore in Gears.
The videos are not that spectacular, I have seen better videos in Lost Odyssey.

Lost odyssey sported some of the best textures I have seen in a looooong time and the same can be said for SC4, the clothing and skin textures are amamzing.

from the MGS4 GS review

You will have to wait through some scattered install periods (just under 20 minutes worth, in total) and the occasional loading screen, and you may find some frame rate drops and low-res textures here and there

Strange considering the game makes use of an entire 50gig blu ray, yet it still has lo res textures.

PS and framerate drops

Gears 2 will have Major battles outdoors in the mountains (check the trailers) and that clearly shows the graphical power the 360 is able to output

1) I certainly hope so... Titles pushing to be the benchmark is good for us the consumer.

2) You wrong its a in a league of its own currently...

Oh, you mean like the framerate drops in Lost Odyssey, Mass Effect, hell even Blue Dragon had frame rate drops.

It's a rare game that can boast NO framerate drop whatsoever in its entirety. (talking current gen)

And having played through MGS4 twice, i can state that only one section has slight framerate drops. (Section where you take out the multiple attacking gekkos)

LOL. Mate it is sad if a person is so blinkered because of fanaticism.
The only thing that makes MGS4 in a league of it's own is the fanaticism to the brand and not the quality.

In anyones language, that classifies you as a Brand Wh0re. :p

Pot calling the kettle black not?
The way you sing the praises about MS and Xbox till the cows come home... ;)

You're 100% right, but that's all games.

as I think someone's mentioned, that's the whole thing with Gears 2. Guys are looking at it going "I don't see a difference", but only focusing on Marcus not accounting for the 100 fold increase in enemy count, draw distance or environmental detail, or destructible environments.

.......................and I was hoping for a good critical thread on the pros and cons of blueray.................

Yeah... We've managed to derail this one rather quickly.
