More load-shedding next week

I got a solar setup and a small battery/inverter just for keeping my beer and human tissue collection cold, and for powering the electronics.

The problem is those surges from the motor when it stops and starts - it really does **** up your ****.

Mine was last week, was just working, suddenly the power went out, but it was like an odd failure as a few things beeped that don't normally and my inverter went up and down quickly suddenly one battery is flat. Even my electric fences battery popped.
Everything else seems 100% fine, not even surge protectors went.
 
I am at a point where I am going to be forced to get an inverter or something to mitigate the load shedding. Working at home, my company expects me to be online irrespective (which I can understand). But now I need to power internet and laptops for kids too so they can do online schooling. It never ends.

Yikes, then a 2nd fridge is what you need to keep your beers cold, gas

I did this in July before load shedding started, got a small 950w 2 stroke initially, but then got a 2.5kw a bit later, for bigger loads if needed, but I loaned it to my sons dojo when they had a substation pop last year. So it's hit it's 20 hours now need to replace the oil on it.
The 2 stroke you just mix in oil and fuel and pour it in, needs less maintenance then the bigger one. I also have an inverter which is sadly out of commision at the moment.

Totally understand, and that's where the Mecer1200VA and 2400VA inverters are pretty cool for just that

That's actually a good idea. I have 2 x 9Kg gas bottles in my garage somewhere (If my deadbeat brother didn't sell it yet) that I can use....

No more load shedding for now, according to Eskom. Just wait until something else fails.

Laptops not have batteries?
 
DC UPS for internet + charged batteries in the laptops

For PC, go cheap with a used UPS + 2x26Ah AGM (it'll charge fast enough) (budget option) or inverter + 100Ah bats from Gizzu

I'm thinking about getting a small genny too just as triple redundancy...
