Moggie: you, me, bicycle shed....
I'll bring Bakkies and you can bring the Southern Spears :D

Nah, he's a softie. I'll bring some of the real old hard men of EP rugby: Schalk Burger snr, George Rautenbach, Adri Geldenhuis, Armand du Preez, Jan Serfontein, Pote Human !!

//let's not derail this thread!!:erm:

ruan pienaar...

this boy can play rugby.

Morne just plays a more kicking game..what happens when the conditions suck? muddy pitch , heavy winds ?

rather have a man who can play running rugby , more assertive of getting points plus Pienaars playing skills is overshadowed by morne's drop goal ability in the super 14...

just my opinion...

Uhhhm maybe when he is on form. But atm he is like mr Michalak. Not to be trusted :p

Look no one doubts he has talent, but he is not having a good year so far. Also you pick a kicker at flyhalf, your centres are suppose to be the line breakers.

Also atm steyn is sending the backline away a lot better than pienaar.

I really would like to see pienaar on form as I believe he is a great talent.

*Cough* *Cough*

Would love to hear what the Ruan camp has to say today :o

Mornè YOU BEAUTY !!!!!

Interesting that we get this thread straight after a good kicking display by Morne.... actually it is not interesting, it is rather stupid. If Ruan had kicked over a last minute conversion from the touchline to win us a test match on Saturday the results would be totally different. It proves nothing. It is just an attempt by the Morne fans to try to "prove" a point.

Does make one wonder why he doesn't have 100% of the vote considering his performance was apparently SOOOO exceptional.... and I haven't even voted yet!

EDIT : Ok, I see this thread was in place prior to this weekends game. My apologies. It was just Pitbull bumping it to gloat... I'll be sure to do the same when Morne fails - and he will, as all players have bad days! I still feel the voting will be skewed by the player's last performance.... most humans do not have good memories.

Bullshyt.

Mornè showed all his critics wrong.

They said he can't play an attacking game, he did. Sure not the best kind of attacking game but he made an effort. He has the kicking down and he'll be working on his general game now.

He is now SA's number one Flyhalf and Ruan will have to warm the bench for a few seasons :p. I just find it funny that the Ruan crowd has been shown wrong once again and all they do is try and find reasons to hate Mornè with all their hearts.

That aside,

Brusso..... WTF ? That little man has opened my eyes so wide I can see all the way to the moon. I know Schalk personally and love the game he plays but I doubt he will ever out play Brusso for the number 6 jersey.

Brusso was a match winner on Saturday.

If pigs could fly ... If Bob mugabe was only a nice guy etc etc

IF Ruan kicked half decently he would be 1st choice, but the man has failed at the basic thing a flyhalf needs to be able to do... Even butch James on his off days had a better kicking performance.

In test rugby against NZ and Aus you can not afford to miss 11 points in the first half!

Ruan will warm the bench and imo be a great impact flyhalf/scrummie. It also then gives us the option of kicking Januarie (Please dear Lord!) off the bench and replacing him with someone like Kanko.

Ruan is has his attributes and MS has his if u could just combine the 2 then you would have a world class flyhalf

Brian we shall see if you need to combine the 2 on sat. Aussies will be a good test for MS.

!st start for the 1st team and he impresses, he will never repeat that performance again but we shall see on sat.

Yes, but that does not solve the dilemma. You have to choose which attributes you value more in a flyhalf, suited to your overall game plan. In order of importance a trusted kicker (penalties, conversions, placements, etc) and secondly a playmaker/distributor is more suited to our game plan and therefore more valuable.

If we had say a lock :p that could take penalties, then obviously Ruan's attributes would be more valuable.

So +1 MS

Fullbacks, scrumhalves, centers, and even some forwards can do the kicking job.

Yes and his tactical kicking? We going to let Fourie kick everything?

Also we are you going to drop in the team atm to make space for the forward/scrumhalf/centre who can kick?

I think we should let morne do the talking guys, for the second week running he has a chance to show us what he can :D

If only....
The entire team could stay in the locker room, Morné could come out and nail the Ozzies 100-0, win Man of The Century, Time's Man of The Year and have rugby renamed Steyn and STILL the Ruan faithful will blindly back their man.

Which I admire, BTW. I would too - except our man (MS) is winning this race.

He is not my man, i do not actually care which one plays but the man in form should get the job and that is morne but you are correct in saying the ruan faithful do not care they just want their sharkie in the team which is rather silly.

Then its up to this weekend to see if the Aussies will target MS or if he will put up a class performance again lets hope for us all its the later

Like PdV and steyn himself said, he can still improve on both his attack and defence (not that they are sub-par).

I still think we are blessed to have two talented flyhalves.
