Comfortable? Does that mean body roll and soft suspension? Eish that sounds nasty.

You can get a decent 3/4 year old current gen 5 series or A6 with like 60k on the clock for that kind of money.

Demo VW Passat was what I found to be the best value and the most comfortable, under R300k.

E-class or C-class.

Money can pay for school fees, but it can't buy you class. Unless you buy Mercedes that is

18 month old C class

No please not this matchbox or the 3 series. You'll get more comfort from Toyota.

Go 5 series/ E Class for the best you can afford.

Check out the VW Passat and HyundaI Sonatas as well.

You like the GenX Nano, your opinion is invalid :erm:
I never said I liked it, I just said some Tatas are better than some VWs

I'm with you Quantum. Or get a demo Jetta with all the bells and whistles, rather than an entry-level Passat.

One of my best drives between Johannesburg and Cape Town and back was in a 2.0 TDI Volkswagen Jetta Highline. The ride is firm but comfortable, the engine has spades of torque for overtaking those pesky trucks on the N1, and the seat is moulded exactly right that I never had a stiff back (which is remarkable considering some of the long stretches I did).

I was after a Jetta... When I bought, a similar mileage Jetta 1.4TSI DSG Comfortline, cost R10k more than my Passat, which has a bigger engine, a humongous boot and loads of extra features, even in base spec.
